Greed and Opportunity
While most of America is whining about how awful the recession is, what bad shape the economy is in, and how we have to pinch pennies or else we'll die, I'm taking risks with my money by investing in the very things that are supposedly going to bring about the end of the world:
Real estate. Mortgage backed securities. Entertainment. Restaurants.Yes, I am profiting from the stupidity of others -- including the government, the banks who gave into their threats, and the average consumer who is carrying debt in the tens-of-thousands of dollars. I won't offer any financial advice. If you're sharp enough to figure it out, you've already figured out how to make a killing off an economic slump. I am just going to quietly watch the world go crazy as I make more money.
I have almost no unsecured debt and my mortgage pays for itself (well, actually my tenants pay for it), so an economic downturn isn't going to send me into universal default. We are in a purging, a cleansing of the riff-raff who took out debt they couldn't afford. They were renting their lifestyles, making monthly payments just to keep the fun going. But when the recession came, they stopped making payments. They went into default. Their cars got repossessed. Their houses went into foreclosure. Creditors started calling. The sky began falling... or so they thought.
Now the terrorist-befriending, God-hating Barack Hussein Obama is promising to return to them their rented lifestyles. He will play the country song backwards. They'll get their car back, their house back, their TV back, their cell phone back, and their stereo system back. That is what is important in this country. Not love. Not family. Certainly not the Lord. Jobs. Money. Entertainment. Education. All the things that people lived without for thousands of years. Not that we want to return to those days, but we certainly aren't justified in breaking our proverbial necks to avoid that when it is not even a remote possibility.
Those who fear we are re-entering the dark ages are already there. They are looking to their filthy false messiah to pull them out.The rest of us, the few, don't live by those rules. We don't live under a socialist thumb, nor do we suck on a politician's teet in hopes of a better life. We create a better life. And we create a better life for others, whether they appreciate it or not. And looking at the current foreign-born President, I'm thinking not.
